Cruise terminals, port transport, Laines Center, and nearby visitor information checked August 1, 2026. The former La Droguerie shop has closed; Laines Center is the yarn stop in this guide. Confirm its split hours before leaving the ship.
Get the free PDF guide ↓Allow about 4 to 5.5 hours for yarn and Longchamp; 5 to 7 hours with the waterfront. You'll travel by taxi to laines center, with metro, taxi, or the cruise shuttle for the city and return and keep the final 75 minutes free for the return to your ship.
Check your ship's daily program before you go ashore. Your terminal can change how long it takes to reach the first shop.
The main Marseille Provence Cruise Terminal area
taxi: Allow 25–40 minutes to Laines Center
Ask for 4 boulevard Gueidon and arrange how you will continue toward Longchamp or the waterfront.
transit: Allow 45–65 minutes
Use the cruise shuttle toward Terrasses du Port, then continue by city transit toward the shop.
This pin marks the MPCT terminal area. The passenger gate and ship berths are separated inside the port, so use the transport instructions provided for your call.
The city-side terminal beside La Major and Mucem
taxi: Allow 25–40 minutes to Laines Center
A taxi is the simplest cross-city connection from J4 to boulevard Gueidon.
transit: Allow 35–55 minutes
Use the Joliette transit connections and allow time for a change before the final walk.
J4 serves smaller ships. Confirm that your daily program names J4 before using this shorter timing.
Check whether your ship lists MPCT, Môle Léon Gourret, or J4. If it remains unclear, use the Môle Léon Gourret timing and ask the gangway staff where the day's city shuttle returns.
Taxi or planned city transit
Traffic and the exact terminal change the cross-city trip, so keep the driver's pickup details.
Taxi
The shop's Monday-afternoon and split Tuesday–Saturday hours shape the day.
Taxi or city transit
Choose Longchamp for the shorter day or Mucem and the Old Port when the call is longer.

Check current visitor informationEnjoy Palais Longchamp, Mucem, and the waterfront. Laines Center currently lists Sunday as closed.
Continue to Palais Longchamp or Mucem rather than waiting through the split hours.
Choose one central shop and one waterfront stop. Begin the return at the planned time even if the morning started late.

Your ship's daily program and each shop's latest notice take precedence if a berth, timetable, or opening hour changes.
1 yarn shop and 1 craft or textile stop to explore. Marseille is worth listing because the yarn options are real, not because they are dockside. Most large ships use the northern cruise terminal, so the sensible plan is to transfer into the center for La Droguerie or reserve Laines Center for a dedicated taxi errand.

These are options for getting around Marseille.
Marseille cruise terminal
Use this to confirm the MPCT address and Mole Leon Gourret context.
A short-transfer Atlantic Europe port with one of the clearest yarn-shop anchors in the region.
A flagship Mediterranean yarn route from the cruise bus or taxi drop-off into the city.
A Greek embarkation or long-call yarn errand where the shops are in Athens, not beside the pier.
A Canary Islands cruise call with real central merceria and yarn options close enough for a careful shore-day route.
