Lerwick yarn-crawl guide

A Shetland wool port where real local yarn is close enough to justify planning around the call.

Docking at Lerwick Harbour cruise berths / Victoria Pier tender landing — Holmsgarth / Victoria Pier, Lerwick, Shetland. United Kingdom.

Shore-day plan

Use Jamieson's of Shetland for the easiest central wool stop, then add Jamieson & Smith if you want a deeper Shetland wool-broker visit and have time for the North Road walk or taxi.

Distances use Holmsgarth as the conservative origin. Tender calls to Victoria Pier or central berths can make Commercial Street much closer.

Bring this project

Start a Fair Isle or colorwork project — these ports are the spiritual home of stranded knitting. Buy a palette of 4–6 fingering-weight skeins.
